When people think of workout they usually think of a type of physical activity that only involves the use of one’s own body weight such as weightlifting or squats. For example, most people who hear the word “squats” know exactly what that means. Weightlifting is a form of exercise where you lift weights in order to build up muscle mass and create a strong core. On the other hand, squats involve the deep, involuntary muscle contractions of the hip flexors, the lower back and the hamstrings. While it is true that weightlifters and bodybuilders have been able to develop large muscle groups by focusing on their weak and imbalanced muscle groups through the contraction of many muscles at once, it takes years of practice to master the art of squatting.
In order for your workout to be considered intense, it has to involve the use of your entire cardiovascular system. It is a good idea to keep in mind that cardio is not exercise but a form of conditioning. Cardio increases the amount of oxygen in your blood and the efficiency with which your body utilizes that oxygen. This means that when you are exercising, you should be trying to burn more calories than you consume. You may not be able to do this with the traditional forms of exercise, but with interval walking or jogging you will find that you are able to shed some unwanted pounds and tone up your muscles.
The best thing about interval walking is that it can be done at your own pace and any fitness level. When you are doing interval walking or jogging, you are able to gradually increase the intensity of your workout without increasing the difficulty of it. The nice thing about interval walking is that it is a very effective workout. In fact, it has been scientifically proven that by doing interval walking three times a week, you can burn as many as 800 extra calories, which is equal to losing one pound a week.
With regards to exercises, one of the best workouts involves using free weights or machines. It has been medically proven that there are certain muscle groups which respond faster to weight training and exercise then others. For example, biceps and triceps respond faster to weight exercises then the chest and back. When you perform free weight exercises, your muscles become accustomed to the weights and they are able to grow and become stronger over time.
One thing that should always be done before performing any type of workout is stretching. Studies have shown that the most effective workouts include stretching the entire body. Stretching helps to prevent injuries, increase flexibility, mobility and overall muscle strength. Overall, these workouts should include three components which are high intensity, one repetition, and stretching.
